🧴 How to Use the Oatmeal Soak
It’s super easy — here’s how to draw a noodle-friendly bath:
- Fill your sink or tub with 3-4 inches of warm slightly above room temperature water. To get the right temperature you can test it by dropping a few drops on the inside of your wrist. If it burns it is TOO HOT.
- Add 1–2 scoops of bath powder
- Stir gently with your hand — it will fizz slightly (that’s the baking soda + citric acid at work creating carbon dioxide that gently lifts dirt and debris (or soupie) from your ferrets fur.
- Place your ferret in the bath and gently swish water over their body
- Let them soak for 2+ minutes, or until they’ve had enough... believe me you'll know.
- Put towels on the floor of a small area then lift them out and let the drying chaos begin — no rinsing needed!

💡 The soak doesn’t just clean — it moisturizes skin, softens fur, and soothes irritation.
🐾 Why We Made a Soak (Not a Shampoo)
Ferret skin is delicate. Most pet shampoos (even “natural” ones) are too harsh, stripping away protective oils and triggering overgrooming or scent gland flare-ups.
Our Oatmeal Soak:
- Gently cleans without scrubbing
- Moisturizes with natural oils
- Helps soothe itchy, flaky, or irritated skin
- Leaves fur soft and fresh
- Doesn’t require rinsing (unless your tub gets slippery)
- Senior ferret care. Senior floofs can have hind leg weakness and trouble using the potty requiring frequent rinsing to keep urea burn away. Our bath soak can be used as needed daily for quick rinses.
🧼 It’s our go-to after seasonal shedding, dry weather, or rescue intake baths.
🧾 What’s In It?
Our soak includes:
- Colloidal oatmeal
- Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
- Citric acid
- Ferret-safe moisturizing oils
When added to warm water, the baking soda and citric acid fizz to help disperse the ingredients and lift dirt — while the oils settle into the coat to condition the skin.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to rinse my ferret after using the soak?
Nope! The soak is designed to stay on their fur and skin to moisturize. You can rinse the tub afterward to reduce slipperiness, but don’t rinse the ferret.
Q: How often can I use it?
As needed! Most ferrets only need baths every 1–3 months or less unless medically necessary or they dump a bowl of soupie on their head. You can also do a quick paw soak if they get into something dirty (aka poop toe...the rescue floofs know what I mean).
Q: Is it safe if they lick their fur afterward?
Yes — all ingredients are lick-safe and non-toxic.
Q: What if my ferret hates baths?
Totally normal! Keep the water shallow and warm, offer treats before/after. If it is still stressful you can try using a warm washcloth soak instead. You can do this by adding one scoop of the bath soak to a small bowl, mix with warm water, soak a washcloth in the bowl, then gently squeeze and/or wrap over your beloved floofy ferret.
Q: How long does a bag last?
Each bag contains 12 oz and lasts 6-8 baths, depending on how much you use per soak.
