🥄 How to Feed Salmon Oil

  • Start with 1–2 drops once daily
  • You can go up to 2-3 drops/day for larger ferrets (max 1 tsp/week)
  • Drizzle it on kibble, treats, or our Dook Soup
  • Store in a cool, dry place — refrigeration optional but not required

💡 Pro tip: If your ferret isn't sure at first, try rubbing a drop on a favorite treat to get them used to the scent.

🐾 Why Add Salmon Oil to Your Ferret's Routine?

Our wild-caught salmon oil is loaded with:

  • Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids (great for skin & coat)
  • EPA & DHA (for brain, joint, and immune health)
  • Natural anti-inflammatory properties (especially helpful for itchy seasons)

That means it helps:

  • Reduce flaky, irritated skin
  • Add softness and shine to dull coats
  • Support immune health and brain development

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use Salmon Oil every day?
Yes! Just start slow. 1–2 drops is plenty to begin with. Build up to more if needed to a maximum of 1 teaspoon per week.

Q: Will this fix bald patches or adrenal disease?
It helps with general skin and coat health, but isn't a medical treatment. For sudden hair loss or behavior changes, talk to your exotic vet.

Q: My ferret isn't into it — help?
Try using a small spoon, offering some off your finger, dabbing on a treat, or mixing with a bit of Dook Soup. Some ferrets just need a few tries to get used to the taste.

Q: Can I use this with kits or seniors?
Yes! It's perfect for ferrets of all ages. Just start with a very small amount and monitor digestion.

Q: Why is your salmon oil a pale yellow color?
We use exclusively wild-caught Icelandic and Norwegian salmon oil, produced to human-grade omega-3 standards. Unlike many pet oils that use lower-grade bulk fish oil or farm-raised salmon, our oil is sourced from wild fish and refined to remove impurities while preserving high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Because this is a natural product, color will vary batch to batch. Wild North Atlantic salmon typically produce a lighter, pale yellow oil, while oils from Alaska salmon are often a deeper orange. Color differences are driven by species, diet, and region — not quality. What matters more than color is freshness and purity. Your oil should have a mild, natural scent and clean consistency. If you ever notice a strong or foul odor, reach out and we'll make it right.
