Our Lamb Recipe is the world's first air-dried complete diet made specifically for ferrets, developed in consultation with veterinary nutritionists and exotic veterinarians. Dogs and cats have had air-dried diets for years, and they're considered some of the best food you can buy for either species. Nobody had ever made one for ferrets. It has been our mission to change that, so we spent three years working with a facility in New Zealand to build one, formulated around what ferrets actually need rather than adapted from a cat recipe.

Inside the bag you'll find 95% lamb, organ, bone, and seafood in whole-prey ratios. Real lamb muscle meat along with kidney, liver, and bone, plus New Zealand green mussel for natural glucosamine and chondroitin and a proprietary fish blend for amino acid diversity and omega-3s. Taurine is added directly, because obligate carnivores get it from meat in the wild and can't produce enough on their own.

Just like all our products, you'll never find any unnecessary ingredients in our Air-Dried Ferret Food. No grains, no peas, no corn or soy, no starches, no sugar, and no plant protein inflating the protein number on the label. Your ferret can't read the label. That's your job. Every ferret food on the shelf today is a kibble, built on meat meals, byproducts, fillers, corn, soy, and plant proteins that ferrets process poorly. Here's what's in ours, and what isn't:

A note on preservatives
Every shelf-stable food needs something to keep the fat from going rancid, and air-dried food is no exception. The question is what you use. This recipe relies on mixed tocopherols, a form of vitamin E, along with rosemary extract, citric acid, and vinegar, rather than the synthetic preservatives common in pet food like BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin. Natural preservatives do the same job, though they give a shorter shelf life.

Feeding Instructions:
Feed approximately 1/2 to 1 cup (57g to 114g) daily for an adult ferret (2-4 lbs), divided across several small meals. Kits under 1 lb need about 25 to 35g, ferrets 1 to 2 lbs about 40 to 55g, and adult ferrets 2 to 4 lbs about 57 to 114g. Adjust based on age, activity level, and body condition. Ferrets self-regulate, so most owners find it easiest to keep food available and let their floof set the schedule. Always provide fresh water. Store sealed in a cool, dry place. No refrigeration required.

Switching foods?
Ferrets imprint on their food between 6-12 months of age, which is why transitions take time and has almost nothing to do with flavor. Mix a small amount into their current food and increase the proportion every few days. Most ferrets come around in two to four weeks.
