We built a free suite of interactive ferret care tools at tools.thepamperedferret.com. No account needed. No cost. Just good information, sourced from vet literature and experienced ferret owners.

These are the tools we wished existed when we brought home our first ferret. If you have a ferret, or know someone who does, bookmark this and share it.

Is This Safe? — Search 400+ foods, plants, household items, and pet products to see if they are safe for ferrets. Includes verdict, explanation, and biological reasoning for each item.
Food Ingredient Scanner — Paste any pet food ingredient list and get an instant letter grade with every flagged ingredient explained. Powered by the same sourcing standards we use for our own products.
Ferret Care Guides — Vet-sourced guides covering diet, health, behavior, grooming, senior care, and emergencies. Every claim is cited.
Q&A Library — 119 answered questions organized by category. Feeding, behavior, safety, health, housing, grooming, life stages, vet care, and new owner basics.

Why We Built This

When Coda came home from the pet store, the care guidance we received was wrong in almost every way that mattered. The information that exists online is scattered, inconsistent, and often sourced from communities rather than veterinary literature.

We built these tools to fix that. Every piece of content is sourced from peer-reviewed ferret medicine and credible community knowledge.

It is free because ferrets deserve better care regardless of what their owners can afford to spend.

A Work in Progress

My ferrets didn't seem to like the food or want

My ferrets didn't seem to like the food or want to try it, they are very picky as well so I wasted $30 for nothing they wasted all of the food :/ I was trying to help them gain some weight as they are underweight but it didn't seem to work out.

Hi Yanissa, I'm sorry to hear the ferret food didn't meet your expectations. Picky eaters can be tricky, but we're here to help! Feel free to reach out if you'd like some alternative suggestions or assistance. In our experience and in speaking with other customers it can take a couple of weeks of trying different techniques to get them to realize how much they really like it! Great product!

Giving this product five stars because it’s healthy, comes nicely packaged and it’s fresh. Plus Customer Service is amazing! Unfortunately my little girl is just not into them yet. She’s stubborn and a picky eater so we are trying! She didn’t want the freeze dried chicken hearts or the Dook soup either and now she loves them both so I have no doubt she’ll come around to this one also.

I've been using Pampered Ferret products since 2020. My ferrets love them! The chicken jerky treats have been a game changer for their oral health. My only issue has started recently. The pieces of chicken jerky have become so small that they have a hard time eating them and nearly a 1/4 of the product is basically tiny broken bits and bits that have crushed to powder. Unfortunately the same is happening with the chicken heart treats but to a greater extent. The new bottle for the salmon and coat oils are terrible. Can't get the last 1/8 of the product out of the bottles with the pump. You have to take the lid off and shake the bottles. Great products but an unfortunate change in quality and shopping experience. I will continue to support the Pampered Ferret because I believe in their mission, my noodles love their products, and TPF products have contributed to them being healthy happy geriatric ferrets. I just wish the quality was the same as it was in the earlier days.

My little girl love dook soup!! I'm convinced

My little girl love dook soup!! I'm convinced it's what keeps her healthy & happy...We give it 2x a day then supplement with kibbles ..Her coat is soft and eyes bright & energy good...

My ferret absolutely loves these treats and would probably eat an entire bag in one sitting if he could! It would be nice if the chicken was cut into pieces like the salmon treats though. Also, the past few bags have been mostly powder which he won’t eat, otherwise it’d be 5 stars. Hopefully the next few I’ve just ordered will be better because my little guy gets pretty moody when we run out of his snacks!

It makes their coat softer, and it hasn't caused any allergies. So it's safe for ferrets.
